APPG for Transport Safety AGM 2026

The APPG for Transport Safety is pleased to announce that it successfully held its Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 24 June 2026 in Parliament, securing continued cross-party support from Parliamentarians for the year ahead.

Andy MacNae MP was re-elected as Chair, with Elsie Blundell MP, Baroness Jones of Moulsecoomb and Aphra Brandreth MP elected as Vice-Chairs.

The newly elected officers discussed the APPG’s forward programme for 2026/27, with a focus on the forthcoming Road Safety Strategy, the Road Safety Board, and areas where the group can add value through parliamentary scrutiny, evidence-gathering and policy engagement.

Members agreed that the APPG should prioritise areas where there is a clear policy gap or where further parliamentary focus could support improved delivery. Key themes discussed included reducing child KSIs, safety on school journeys, road and rail freight, cloned and ghost plates, untraceable vehicles, illegal e-bikes, young drivers, work-related road collisions, and emerging vehicle technologies.

The APPG agreed an ambitious programme of events, roundtables, parliamentary activity and collaborations for the coming year, including opportunities to work with other APPGs and external experts to support evidence-based discussion and drive progress on transport safety.
